'Hoshana' was
what the people cried as they welcomed Jesus into Jerusalem.
It was the cry
of the heart.
It was a plea that the brutal Roman tyranny might cease
It was a desperate appeal to a man, riding on a
foal, followed by a
raggedy collection of misfits -
like you,
like me.
raggedy collection of misfits -
like you,
like me.
It was a proclamation of hope, from the deepest need
It was the culmination of a cry of a remnant people who trusted
that God would send them one anointed
Save us was
their cry 'hoshana'
Ride on Jesus -
ride beyond broken dreams to bring new hope
Ride on Jesus -
ride past military might to peaceful means
Ride on Jesus -
ride so that broken hearts might learn to love
and be loved again
Ride on Jesus - breaking down walls of inhospitality to tables open and bountiful
Ride on Jesus - to mercy and grace, to love and forgiveness
Ride on Jesus - to mercy and grace, to love and forgiveness
Ride on Jesus -
to trial, to death, to a new kind of life
that starts now.
Hoshana - God save us. Not for some future purpose, 'hoshana' - save us now.
Hoshana
